May 1998, The κ-opioid receptor is the receptor to which morphine binds, but which has been found to interact with a wide range of neuropeptides, such as β-endorphins (33). There are three opioid receptor genes (κ, μ and δ) within the human skeletal muscle and central nervous system, and four opioid receptor genes (κ, μ, δ and λ) within the human central nervous system (25, 26).
The cystoscopic approach is frequently associated with C-arm radiation exposure, which is still not fully understood. The risk for developing cancer during cystoscopy has been extensively discussed in the literature, although a statistical association has not been established yet. In this article, we present a case of a patient who underwent extraperitoneal laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (RP) and was managed with C-arm fluoroscopy to control unwanted movements during surgical steps. Despite the routine use of C-arm fluoroscopy during RP and the detected cancer lesion in the urinary bladder, the rate of cancer per patient was less than 1%.
Given the diversity of gynecologic disease in adolescent women, where cystoscopy is typically indicated, but without true need, it is important to understand the specifically needed applications of cystoscopy in this population.
The main key factors to consider when choosing an imaging modality are the depth of field and the degree and rate of tissue penetration. Given the variations in size of the prostate gland among men and the limitations of the current studies, it is not possible to recommend a 1-size-fits-all approach to brain tumor neuroendoscopy. It is important to consider both these factors as well as the availability of instrumentation, although microendoscopy tools are relatively commonplace in neurosurgery. d2c66b5586
